200 years ago, her sisters were freed. But not her.
She was not even there.

Sister is not just a work of art. Through her distorted portrait of the lonely Caryatid, Alexandra Sarah wishes to express her sorrow, her passion, and her rage – emotions of adversity and negativity, that contrast her home country's feelings of joy. As Greece celebrates 200 years since their fight against the enslavement of the Ottoman Empire, the artist's mind cannot help but linger to those who were lost, betrayed, stolen. Stolen by those who presented themselves as friends.

According to Vitruvius, the women of Caryae were doomed to a life of hard labour. Just as this Caryatid was doomed to a life of confinement in the British Museum, away from her family, away from her home. A life that was chosen for her unrighteously, unlawfully, unethically.

It is time for her to come home. Her sisters are waiting for her.
